Kiosk Kouter in Ghent

The Kouter is a square in the center of the Flemish city of Ghent. Older names for this square are «Paardenmarkt», and «Place d’Armes». The square was traditionally used not only for all kinds of celebrations, but also for people’s congresses in the city. Since 1772, a flower market is held on Sundays. During the Ghent Festival is the location of the «Ball 1900».

The Kouter  is surrounded by stately, mostly nineteenth-century buildings, including the Trade Stock Exchange.

In the square there is a late 19th-century cast-iron kiosk, built to a design by the Ghent architect Adolphe Pauli in 1878.  On Sunday, the kiosk served as a stage for concerts for the middle class and on Wednesday common people could also attend. In the 19th century there were six music kiosks in the center of Ghent, now there’s only two left.

In 1998 the kiosk was refurbished by the company IBT from Oosterzele. The entire structure was coated with a primer coat of ZINGA followed by a topcoat.

Akosombo Dam

The Akosombo Dam (also referred to as the Akosombo Hydroelectric Project), is a hydroelectric dam on the Volta River in southeastern Ghana in the Akosombo gorge and part of the Volta River Authority.
The construction of the dam started in 1961 and was finished in 1965.
The Akosombo Dam was called «the largest single investment in the economic development plans of Ghana.»

Its original electrical output was 912 MW, which was upgraded to 1,020 MW in a retrofit project that was completed in 2006.
In 2009 talks started about recoating the exterior of 6 penstocks and cranes (450T; 85T and mobile hoist cranes) that are part of the Akosombo Hydroelectric Project.

In 2012 the application on 10.000 m² of the Zingametall coatings started following the approval in 2010.

The penstocks were coated in duplex system tested according ISO 12944:
ZINGA + Zingaceram HS + Zingaceram PU

Gugler Water Turbines

GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH is an Austrian family enterprise whose members have been engaged for the last three generations in the development and the supply of water turbines and small hydropower plants. They belong worldwide to the technological leading suppliers of water turbines (Kaplan-, Pelton- and Francis Turbines) with an output ranging between 5 kW to 10 MW.

Gugler uses ZINGA since 2012 in its General Treatment for water turbines.

Runcorn Energy Plant

In 2011, the construction of a new Waste-to-Energy facility was started. This project ‘Runcorn II’ should be finished in 2014/2015.
The facility is located in Manchester, UK where it will offer a solution for the large amount of municipal waste by using this waste to produce up to 80 MW of electricity and 54 MW of heat.

The company ‘Viridor EFW’ has awarded the contract to ‘Keppel Seghers’ (cooperation between ‘Keppel Seghers Belgium’ and ‘Keppel Seghers UK’) who will provide the technology.
The actual constructing was undertaken by the ‘Sisk Group’. In turn, they contracted ‘Fisher Engineering’ to galvanize and install heavy steel beams.

The large steel beams at the top of the building, which are too big to be hot dip galvanised, were treated with ZINGA.

At a cost of €185 million, this is the first major project in the UK where a combination of hot-dip galvanised and film-galvanised steelwork has been assembled into a single structure. It clearly illustrates that the electrical potentials of the two zincs are well-balanced, and one beam will never go anodic to another and hence no galvanic corrosion can occur.

Mumbai Domestic Airport

The domestic terminals in Mumbai with the same name as its international wing are located in Santa Cruz, East. There are two domestic terminals -Terminal 1A (with an area of 28960 sqm), and Terminal 1B (with an area of 45000 sqm).

Terminal 1B was constructed by Unity Infrastructures where the Structural Consultants were M/S Mahimtura & Co.

In 2006 all steel structures including the huge curbed spans of the new airport of Mumbai Domestic Airport are coated with ZINGA and finished with a white PU.
5 years after application the structures still look as if they were treated yesterday.

The testimonial was written by the responsable of Pratibha Pipes & Structral Pvt. Ltd., the steel constructor and coatings applicator, after application.
