Lufeng Jiahuwan Power Plant

World’s largest coal fired power plant (8 x 1000 MW) located at south eastern coast of Guangdong Province, China’s heavy duty economic powerhouse. 4 equal phases scheduled to be built over 8 years, commencing June 2016, each of 2 x 1000 MW output and with state of the art technology for reduction of carbon emissions. Each phase requires 45 000 tons of structural steelworks. About 64 of the steel has been coated with ZINGA® as unique system 2 x 75 = 150 µm. The total ZINGA ® consumption was about 321 tons. The smaller sized steel members, or 16 200 tons in total, were protected by HDG.

The coating works started in June 2016 and were finished in August 2018. Coating supervision inspection services stipulated as mandatory by the client and strictly complied with by Zingametall Primo Corporation from start to finish. The commissioning and official opening of the Lufeng Jiahuwan Power plant (Phase 1) was held on 15 April 2019.

New Shougang Bridge – Beijing

The design of the bridge is from the Belgian architect Nicolas GODELET of Beijing Gejian Architectural Design Consulting Co Ltd and living in Beijing It is an entirely welded steel structure with 45 000 tonnes of steel plates (more than for the National Stadium “Bird’s Nest”).

Coating with ZINGA started in 2017. In total 182 tons of ZINGA was used (internal and external of steel structure). It is the world’s first twin tower cable stayed steel composite bridge. 1 354 meters in length and 54 9 meters in width. It is the highest bridge in Beijing City with two distinct steel arch towers of 125 and 90 meters, 4 lanes in both directions, and it is the widest bridge in China. The bridge opened to trafic on 29 September 2019.

The external was coated with ZINGA 1 x 60 µm DFT and topcoated with AkzoNobel I.P. mid- and topcoats. The internal application was a ZINGA-unique system of 1 x 80 µm DFT.

Anti-slip coefficient of high strength bolts adjoining steel sections

GB 50017-2003 Code for design of steel structures
GB 50205-2001 Code for Acceptance of Construction Quality of Steel Structures

In Octobre 2005, ZINGA coated plates have been tested according GB 50017 and GB 50205 to assess the slip friction coefficient (µ) of high strength bolts adjoining steel sections.

The results demonstrate that ZINGA coated surfaces of high strenght bolts have increased friction (compared to bare steel or galvanised steel) with results of µ between 0.5 and 0.7. This is beneficial for construction.

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is the main airport of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, China. In 2011, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport was China’s 2nd busiest and world’s 19th busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic, with 45,040,340 people handled. As for cargo traffic, the airport was the 3rd busiest in China and the 21st busiest worldwide. Guangzhou airport is also the 2nd busiest airport in terms of traffic movements in China.

In February 2002 ZINGA was applied on the passengers’ terminals of the Guangzhou New Baiyun Airport. The construction of the passengers’ terminals consists of hollow metal elements, that have been previously hot-dip galvanised. For better acoustics, the metal was perforated. Afterwards, the surface with the little holes had to be repaired again with ZINGA. The surface was sprayed with ZINGA in an angle of 45° from both sides.

In October 2003, ZINGA was used on roll-formed panels in the first phase of construction.

In August 2008, the airport’s new expansion plan was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission of China. In december 2008, Therminal 1 was expanded and again ZINGA was used.

The airport will build a third runway located 400 metres east of the existing east runway. Construction of the third runway is estimated to start in 2013 and finish in 2015-2016.

Beijing Water Park

The Beijing National Aquatics Center, also officially known as the National Aquatics Center, and colloquially known as the Water Cube, is an aquatics center that was built alongside Beijing National Stadium in the Olympic Green for the swimming competitions of the 2008 Summer Olympics. Despite its nickname, the building is not an actual cube, but a  cuboid (a rectangular box).

Swimmers at the Water Cube broke 25 world recordsduring the 2008 Olympics.
After the Olympics, the building underwent a 200million Yuan revamp to turn half of its interior into
a water park. The building officially reopened on August 8, 2010.

In April 2010, ZINGA was used to protect several steel frameworks from the renovated structures.

Bird’s Nest

The stadium was designed for use throughout the 2008 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. Located in the Olympic Green, the $ 423 million stadium is the world´s largest steel structure.

The client (project owner) was the National Stadium Steel Structure Office of CITIC International Contracting Inc., a joint ventureofCITIC (China International Trust & Investment Corporation) and BUCG (Beijing Urban Construction Group), two of China’s largest state owned enterprises.

The main contractor wasBUCG Jinggong Steel Construction Engineering Co., Ltd.

ZINGA was used on specialcritical areas (such as complex joints, gutters, and ETFE membrane mounted sections) of the Bird’s Nest steel structure which could not be metallised (spray zinc) after welding.

Date of ZINGA application: September ~ December 2006.
